About us
Kensington Community Fellowship (KCF Church) officially began its journey on 7 July 2002 in Bezuidenhout Valley, Johannesburg.
KCF was birthed out of Central Community Fellowship (CCF) as part of a vision to extend the Kingdom of God by establishing strong, Christ-centred churches in communities. The history of CCF records Kensington Community Fellowship in Bez Valley as one of the churches that was established when the congregation expanded through church planting.
What began as a new church plant has, through the grace and faithfulness of God, grown into a vibrant spiritual family with a passion for worship, prayer, biblical teaching, discipleship, strong families, leadership development, missions and community outreach.
Our Journey Since 2002
From the beginning, KCF has believed that church is more than a Sunday gathering. It is a family where people can encounter Jesus Christ, grow in their faith, discover their God-given purpose and be equipped to make a difference in the lives of others.
Over the years, men, women, young adults, youth and children have become part of the KCF family. Through home cells, discipleship, teaching, prayer, fellowship, leadership development and practical ministry, people have been encouraged not simply to attend church, but to become active followers of Christ.
God has raised leaders, ministry partners, home-cell leaders, pastors and servants through KCF who have gone on to serve both within the local church and beyond it.
The church has also sought to make a practical difference in its surrounding communities through outreach, missions, support for families, care for people in need and partnerships that demonstrate the love of Christ beyond the walls of the church.
A Church That Plants Churches
One of the important parts of the vision of KCF has always been to evangelise communities and establish churches.
As KCF grew, the vision was never simply to build one large congregation in one location, but to raise and release people who could take the Gospel into other communities.
A significant example of this vision becoming reality was the planting of Lighthouse Community Fellowship (LCF) in Primrose. LCF held its first service as a new KCF plant-out on 28 June 2015, beginning with 26 ministry partners and 43 church members – 69 founding members in total. LCF describes its beginning as the fulfilment of KCF's vision to evangelise communities and establish churches.
The wider fellowship and ministry family has grown to include churches such as:
KCF – Kensington Community Fellowship
The home church in Bezuidenhout Valley, Johannesburg.
LCF – Lighthouse Community Fellowship
Established in Primrose as a KCF plant-out, continuing the vision of reaching and transforming communities.
TCF – Trinity Community Fellowship
Part of the growing fellowship of churches carrying the vision of building strong believers, families and communities.
HCF – Harvest Community Fellowship
Continuing the work of reaching people and developing disciples and leaders for the Kingdom of God.
SCF – Solid Community Church
Serving its community and contributing to the broader family and vision of community-based ministry.
Shalom Community Fellowship
Extending the heart of fellowship, discipleship and the Gospel into another community.
Though each congregation has its own leadership, identity and community to serve, there remains a shared heart: to reach people, build strong disciples, develop leaders and extend the Kingdom of God.
Growing People, Not Just a Church
The story of KCF is not measured only by buildings, attendance or programmes. It is found in the lives that have been changed.
It can be seen in people who have accepted Christ, families that have grown stronger, believers who have been baptised, young people who have discovered purpose, leaders who have been developed, marriages that have been encouraged, communities that have been served and men and women who have answered God's call to ministry.
KCF continues to believe in raising the next generation and giving people opportunities to use their gifts for God's purposes.
We believe that every person matters to God and that every believer has a part to play in His Kingdom.
Faith, Family & Community
At the heart of KCF is a commitment to three important areas:
Faith – To know Jesus Christ personally, grow through God's Word, worship passionately, pray faithfully and live empowered by the Holy Spirit.
Family – To build healthy marriages, strong families, meaningful relationships and a church where people genuinely belong.
Community – To take the love of Jesus beyond the church building and become a blessing to the people and communities around us.
For more than two decades, God has remained faithful to KCF through every season. From its beginning on 7 July 2002, through years of growth, ministry, church planting, outreach and leadership development, the heart of the church has remained the same:
Love God. Love people. Make disciples. Build families. Reach communities.
Blessed to Be a Blessing
The words “Blessed to Be a Blessing” are more than a slogan for KCF. They express the heart of who we desire to be.
God blesses us so that His blessing can flow through us to others.
Our prayer is that every person who becomes part of the KCF family will encounter God, discover their purpose, grow into spiritual maturity and become a blessing wherever God places them.
As we look back with gratitude at what God has done since 7 July 2002, we also look forward with faith and expectation.
There are still people to reach.
There are still families to strengthen.
There are still leaders to raise.
There are still communities to impact.
There are still churches to plant.
And there is still much more that God wants to do.
KCF Church – Blessed to Be a Blessing.
Awaken. Arise. Advance.
